Unemployment is one of the most significant
social and economic problems in Poland. There are many regions with
high poverty index that are inhabited by thousands of families. Such
environment is mostly harmful to children as they are deprived not only
of a happy childhood, but also of a sense of safety and a
guarantee that their basic needs will be satisfied. These are those
children that mostly need our support.
Bank Zachodni WBK, realizing the
necessity to provide those children with financial support, developed
its corporate giving program under the name of the Bank of
Children’s Smiles. As we wish to support the most destitute
families, we take special care of children raised in such

 On
Tuesday, 3 October 2006, for the second time now, the Bank of
Children’s Smiles scholarships were given to children in
Zachęta Art Gallery in Warsaw. Thirty five talented and amibitious
young people got their scholarships from a number of celebrities, such
as e.g. Robert Korzeniowski, Wojciech Waglewski, Wiesław Saniewski and
Jacek Wszoła. The event was hosted by Agnieszka Szulim, Polish TV
Channel One presenter. Jacek Kseń, the president of BZWBK
Management Board, sincerely congratulated the scholarship holders. more
